Product Description New York Times bestselling author Mary Monroe delivers a powerful and provocative new novel about one woman's search for love in a world where secrets don't always stay hidden, friends don't always have our backs, and the choices we make in one rash moment can change everything...If there's one thing Dolores Reese knows, it's how to keep a secret. It's a skill she learned early in life, watching her best friend Valerie Proctor do whatever it took to protect her family from her violent stepfather. Back then, Dolores was in foster care -- just like Floyd Watson, a local boy who intrigues Dolores from the moment they meet. Even in high school, Dolores knows with certainty that she and Floyd are soul mates. When one bad decision sends an innocent Floyd to prison for life, Dolores pays clandestine visits and -- out of a mix of love and pity -- promises to stick by him. While Floyd's world stands still, Dolores's horizons open up in exciting new ways when she lands a position working for a cruise line. There, she meets Paul Dunne, an accomplished businessman who promises her the kind of future she's always wanted -- the kind she once imagined having with Floyd. Dolores is sure she can continue to visit Floyd without revealing that she's now married to another man. But when Floyd is suddenly freed on new evidence, Dolores is torn and makes a fateful decision -- to live a double lie, devoting herself to two different husbands in two different cities. With Valerie as her confidante and accomplice, Dolores hopes to pull off the ultimate deception. But into this risky situation comes another man, one Dolores can't resist. And if she isn't careful, Dolores just might find out what happens when love, dishonesty, and dangerous jealousy collide...

Poor Performance November 10, 2008 From the first chapter, I could tell this was not the Mary Monroe whose work I look forward to reading. The book is hard to read. The sentences are clunky. The details are convoluted. I gave up halfway through and tried to just enjoy the plot, but even that was hard to do. The book also has too many remnants of her past work. Two friends concealing a murder. A girl and the love of her youth interacting in adulthood. I was sadly not able to enjoy this book at all.
I Really Liked This Book October 27, 2008 This book was interesting, it had so many things going on, and how LoReese could find time for another lover is beyond me. But I can say LoReese was a much better friend than Valerie and Floyd ever were... She kept Valerie's secret forever. and Floyd, he never gave her a chance, after he found out what she did.. ... How one can hold down a friend and lover, but as soon as the tables turn, how one can forget how the other held them down..... Great Read Mary Monroe, keep up the good work..
Should Have Seen It Coming! October 23, 2008 When Dolores Reese met Floyd Watson, she knew that he was the one for her. Dolores promised that she would stick by Floyd's side no matter what. Because of a bad decision, Floyd is sent to prison for life. Dolores visits Floyd and keeps her promise to do his time with him forever. But when Dolores meets and marries Paul, she thinks that she can still continue visiting Floyd without revealing that she is now a married woman. Dolores enlists the help of her best friend Valerie to help with this deception. Dolores soon finds out that playing this dangerous game can have devastating consequences.
She Had It Coming is an entertaining novel by Mary Monroe. Monroe once again brings an intriguing novel with an "out of the ordinary" plot. From the very first page, you will see that Dolores is not the only flawed character in this book. Some of the actions of the characters in this story are so unbelievable and outrageous that you will be laughing out loud. Monroe also did a good job of showing the consequences of living this kind of life. Although living a double life is dubious, you may find yourself rooting for Dolores to get out of this situation unscathed. She Had It Coming is full of all the drama and humor that Mary Monroe is known for.

She Had It Coming October 15, 2008 She Had It Coming (Dafina Books) I can not speak on the merits of the book as I purchased it as a gift for my girl friend. She seems to be very happy with the book. She has all the other works of the author. For myself I was very satisfied with the timely delivery of the product and the ease of the ordering process on Amazon.com.
What Goes Around... October 6, 2008 She Had It Coming was a good read. The relationship between Dolores and Valerie reminded me of Annette and Rhoda's relationship from her God Don't Like Ugly series. The plot was original and unpredictable and I really enjoyed the story.
