Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
With the same wicked humor, buoyant charm, and optimism that have made her Shopaholic novels beloved international bestsellers, Sophie Kinsella delivers a hilarious new novel and an unforgettable new character. Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets:

Secrets from her mother:
I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur.
Sammy the goldfish in my parents’ kitchen is not the same goldfish that Mum gave me to look after when she and Dad were in Egypt.

Secrets from her boyfriend:
I weigh one hundred and twenty-eight pounds. Not one eighteen, like Connor thinks.
I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken.

From her colleagues:
When Artemis really annoys me, I feed her plant orange juice. (Which is pretty much every day.) It was me who jammed the copier that time. In fact, all the times.

Secrets she wouldn’t share with anyone in the world:
My G-string is hurting me.
I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is.

Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger.

But come Monday morning, Emma’s office is abuzz about the arrival of Jack Harper, the company’s elusive CEO. Suddenly Emma is face-to-face with the stranger from
the plane, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her. Things couldn’t possibly get worse—Until they do.

5 out of 5 stars Laugh Out Loud!   November 5, 2008
This was by far the funniest book I have ever read. I was laughing out loud throughout the whole book. I had read Kinsella's shopaholic series and decided to try her other books. I read this book in on sitting. I can't wait to finishing reading her other books.

3 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars   October 28, 2008
Meet Emma....an average woman from London who is having a not-average day. Since the book has already been described here by other reviewers I'll explain why I gave it 3.5 stars.

Why I liked it:
I love humor in a book. I love all types of romance but I like it when a book makes me laugh. And Sophie kept my interest to the end. Lately, so many books I have read use the 'same-old, same-old' plots.

What I didn't like:
Sorry, I don't care for the *F* word. I just don't think it is necessary when I read a book. Once, well...twice, is it necessary, ...more,sorry you are losing me.... I also think Emma was just a bit too forgiving regarding Jemima and her co-workers.

But I enjoyed this book enough to try some of Sophie Kinsella's other titles.

4 out of 5 stars Just like chocolate...   October 17, 2008
Another good one from Kinsella. Entertaining, slightly predictable but definitely a good book. I think we all have the feeling of "Ooops anytime now they are going to figure out am I big fraud" especially when it comes to being new at work. I'm also just like Emma, telling lies not to hurt anyone and then getting all wrapped up in it not knowing what is right and wrong.

A colleague of mine once said that reading these types of books is like eating a box of chocolate, it is just pure pleasure. It has got everything in it that you wish for in a good chic flick and will put a smile on your face all through it.

The book doesn't get 5 stars because it is not as good as "the Undomestic Goddess" which is sligthly better but "Can you keep a secret?" is still worth your time. It will make a perfect company on a beach, in a cabin or just on a lazy Sunday.

5 out of 5 stars Fun! Great easy read   October 1, 2008
Loved this book and totally fell in love with the heroine- Emma!
She reminded me of Bridget Jones - the forever fumbling, tripping career girl who at heart is sweet and just wants a happy ending. A couple of hilarious moments include the Family day picnic where Connor tries to guess who Emma is going out with, Jemima's parroting of lessons she learnt from her Mummy on men (esp the crack about the Pope having had plastic surgery!) and Lissy freaking out thinking Emma's a lesbian.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good, fun read.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!   September 28, 2008
I absolutely LOVED this book. It easily made it into my top 3. It captured you from the beginning. Even a guy at work was just playing when he picked it up...but after the first few pages, I saw him reading more intently and continued to pick it up and read more each time he came to my desk! Love it!
