Loved it! November 11, 2008 Great couple and story, if you like interfering gods and pretty hot love scenes. Anya was portrayed like a typical silly, immature goddess (just read those old Greek legends where the gods behave like 5 year olds and throw tantrums when they don't get what they want), which perfectly fit here. Still she was spunky and sacrificed a lot in order to save Lucien. A great read!
Great Paranormal Romance October 30, 2008 After reading the first book, I just had to read the other two. In this book, the goddess of Anarchy, Anya, has never known pleasure. She had a curse put on her that if she sleeps with a guy, she is tied to him for the rest of her life. Yes, sounds kinds romance novel cheesy. Lucien is the immortal that carries the demon death.
Anya is fascinated with Lucian and is a giant tease. But she won't take it further because of her curse. Lucien just wants to be left alone, take souls to heaven and hell, and live a boring, pity party life. But with the quest for Pandora's Box starting to heat up, they get thrown together. Knowing that if the box is found, the demons the immortals carry can be contained, but will end the immortals life, everyone is trying to get it to stay alive or contain the demons once and for all.
It is definitely a good read. Great story and action. And a feel good ending.
Better than the first one - super sexy! October 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was a wonderful book - 5 stars - everything paranormal romance should be... Fast paced story, great dialouge, sizzling love scenes and two great main characters.
Anya and Lucien were very well-developed characters. The reader got to see many facets of them and their emotions/actions were very believeable. Anya was one of my favorite heroines: strong, funny, tough, smart and vulnerable, too. Lucien was super sexy, courageous and tormented. However, had his own dose of insecurities which made him all the more delicious!
I like how this story really focused on the main characters. The other Lords weren't around too much to cause distraction (as I felt in the first book.) The over all story of the Lords/search for the box did progress nicely, though.
Off to installment #3 - Reyes here I come!
Good book October 15, 2008 I didn't know this was a series of books when I bought Darkest Kiss. It was a fun read.
Uh, WoW! What a sequel... October 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I first read Showalter's Darkest Night, I really enjoyed this new take on paranormal romance. I've mostly been reading vampire romances so... I quite enjoy Greek mythology so I welcomed a story involving old myths with new. And to add hot romances to them, well... makes for a great Girl's Night IN. So I didn't hesitate buying Darkest Kiss, but what I didn't expect was a saucy leading lady paired w/ an unlikely withdrawn man. A combo that turned into a heated page turner for me! I try going in without expectations so books like these can give me awesome surprises. I can't wait to read more about these Men & their follies, the Lords of the Underworld. Bring em on...
