Great Ceremonies March 16, 2006 This book was terrific! I found my wedding vows and so did my sister. It gives you the starting point for writing your own vows!
From a Minister's point of view! February 9, 2006 The wedding ceremony should be a spiritual and meaningful experience and an expression of the love that the couple has for one another. When I meet with couples I encourage them to plan the wedding ceremony in such a way as to "Tell Their Story", select prayers, readings and vows that will let everyone present know the strength and uniqueness of their relationship. For many years this has always been a great challenge, for the couple and for me. I would offer multiple books for review, often leaving the couple overwhelmed and confused.
Last year a young woman introduced me to Reverend Judith's book The Wedding Ceremony Planner. This book is indeed the complete Wedding Ceremony Planner. From the very first chapter "Setting the Tone for Your Wedding" to the final chapter covering "Checklists and Worksheets" this is the only book any minister or couple would need to create the perfect wedding ceremony.
Since being introduced to this wonderful book one of the very first things I do when I meet with couples is to personally hand them a copy of the book. The book is always well received and is used either partially or completely to plan the perfect wedding ceremony.
As a minister who admires the work of other ministers I had to call Reverend Johnson to let her know that I loved her book. My greatest discovery about this book evolved from that conversation. The Wedding Ceremony Planner is not just the work of an aspiring author but the work of a devoted and caring minister. In case I haven't made my point, and I smile as I write this final comment, I strongly encourage all couples and ministers to make this book an integral part of their wedding planning. Saved our lives! January 19, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We live in a state where you do not need a licensed officiant to do your wedding ceremony so we decided we would much rather have a close friend be our officiate rather than hiring a stranger. Without this book we never would have been able to do it. It has everything you need for traditional, religious, spritual, non traditional, you name it ceremonies. Plus ideas we loved but would never have thought of on our own. We used a lot of exact language and modified it in other places to suit our personal style. Wrtting our own ceremony also was such an intimate experience and brought us so much closer together. I'd highly recommend it to any bride & groom who want to script their own day their way.
Inspirational December 13, 2005 My husband and I are renewing our wedding vows for our 20th anniversary. I researched many other books and websites looking for just the right words that would be meaningful and spirtual. Rev Johnson gives so many ideas for every type of situation. Her passages are truly inspirational. When you read this book you see a part of her and you know it comes from the heart. If you can't find what to say and how to say it in this book, it isn't out there. Well done!
From Soup To Nuts, It's All Here September 27, 2005 As an ordained minister in a non-traditional church, I have rarely been called upon to perform weddings. So when asked by family members recently, I first researched guidelines from my own church, and then, seeking an additional point of view, found Reverend Johnson's book. What a Godsend! It is all there, answers to every question I had with multiple options and suggestions. I encourage any clergy who seek to assist couples in creating their wedding ceremony either to recommend this volume to them or or use it for your own reference. Her experience comes through every page and quickly put me at ease in making suggestions to my couple.
