great book if you are writing your own ceremony! August 2, 2008 Great book, really useful! We didn't have a "real" officiant who did weddings a lot so we wrote our own ceremony using this book. Lots of options with different ceremony aspects which was great. There are no readings in here, however, which would have made it 5star.
HUGE Stress Reliever! July 26, 2008 I bought this book on the recommendation of another bride and I am SO happy I did.
We are having a first time officiant (uncle) and wanted to a) identify the elements that were most important to us in a ceremony b) give him a guideline of words that spoke to us and c) write our vows.
We aren't religious, and wanted a very comtemporary ceremony and this book was a huge help. It has religious passages, spiritual ones, and secular ones. Helps you customize and gives you great ideas while keeping you organized and focused.
We were able to put our ceremony together is a few hours, and it was nice bonding time focused on the most important part of what is going to be a big day!
One of the best recommendations I've received for my wedding planning, hands down!
Good for the Contemporary Wedding July 25, 2008 The Wedding Ceremony planner is a complete guide to designing both a service(the words spoken) and the logistics. It divides the service into its components (Vows, questions of intent, etc.), and provides many options in each area for the couple to choose from.
In addition, there are forms to record the basic information any wedding planner should have (cues, etc.)
If you're looking for a guide to the wedding ceremony itself and you want something CONTEMPORARY, this is for you. If you're looking for more traditional weddings, choose something else (for example, The Protestant Wedding Sourcebook: A Complete Guide for Developing Your Own Service).
Also, if you want to be your own wedding planner, you'll need something more systematic on the order of the ceremony.
Very helpful July 16, 2008 Great product for someone that is looking for ideas for a ceremony outline. I was able to piece together a ceremony including many traditional and non-traditional aspects in just a few hours. The book was extremely helpful with suggestions, etiquette, etc.
Great advice for many types of weddings June 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My Mom, our officiant, found this book and recommended I pick up a copy. The ceremony was one of the last things we nailed down but I was able to use her structure and some of what she wrote, add our own stuff, and the end result was wonderful. Neither the groom nor I are religious or spiritual, but I still wanted an emotional and meaningful celebration of our relationship. This was the first book I read that really treated that like an option. But also had lots of stuff for people who would want a religious ceremony.
