5 out of 5 stars Getting it together   May 29, 2007

After along time of just getting by or if you are just starting out on your own this is it! A how to do book that doesn't sugar coat things.

5 out of 5 stars Too, too much for me   May 14, 2007
9 out of 14 found this review helpful

I think Peter Walsh has great ideas and after seeing him on [...] show just had to have his book It's All Too Much An Easy Plan for Living a Richer Life with Less Stuff(It's All Too Much). On ordering it, saw his other book How to Organize (Just About) Everything: More Than 500 Step-by-Step Instructions for Everything from Organizing Your Closets to Planning a Wedding to Creating a Flawless Filing System"How to Organize (Just About) Everything". Too, too much! Returned it to Amazon. I'm certain there are younger folks who could find many ideas of interest - but all I was interested in was uncluttering" my house and the first book was great. But this book simply covered too much territory! Like asking what the time is and being told how to make a watch!
Thanks for hearing me out!

4 out of 5 stars The Organizers perfect tool   May 7, 2007
3 out of 5 found this review helpful

This book covers everything you would need to know from organizing rooms,
offices (including data storage) your garage, throwing dinner parties, etc. I think this should be a wedding gift or at the least a guide for everyone's "first new place". I love it and refer to it often.

4 out of 5 stars Depends on what kind of help you need.   April 17, 2007
18 out of 21 found this review helpful

There are two kinds of people looking for organizational help, those who need ideas for how to organize and those who need to know what to organize. This book is for the latter.

If you're like me and you know you need to do SOMETHING but either constantly take on too much at once or don't know where to start, the short common-sense reminders will help you focus and finish. You can work on one page, get it done, then flip to something else that catches your eye and start a new project. When you're done with that you can take a break and read one of the more entertaining and esoteric entries on becoming a nun or winning an Oscar or something. It's great for those of us who prefer to be told what we need to take care of (like making a will or which medical test we should have done at what age) but want flexibility on our approach.

If, on the other hand, you're someone who knows what needs to be done but you need to know the best place to hang some hooks or whether you would be better off with a file cabinet or stacking letter bins, you should look elsewhere. This book may be too flexible for people who prefer to be told exactly how to approach things but like a flexibility on what they need to work on.

If you find Flylady's control journal too regimented, this book may suit your personality better because you can skip around at your own pace, but if you are an avid Flylady its flexible, open-ended approach will probably be a little frustrating.

3 out of 5 stars Very detailed, very tiny print...   November 3, 2006

This book has everything in it. It has so much it is hard to find what you want. However a good resource. My main beef is it would be nice if the print were larger.
