Ideas for every budget ! May 29, 1999 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I always manage to find some idea in all of Martha Stewart's books that I can make my own. I have used the wedding books to make both anniversary and wedding cakes and find the instructions to be detailed and easy to follow. Everyone raves about my chocolate cake with chocolate curls, both taken from the instructions for the groom's cake. My son is getting married soon and we have kept the wedding costs for below $3000.00, including the caterer, by using many of the ideas I have gotten from this book!
Overpriced, old book. April 30, 1999 9 out of 20 found this review helpful
Martha has proven once again that her books are NOT for those who have a modest and realistic budget for their wedding. The price of her book is the indication. Don't bother spending $75 for her book full of old ideas, go out and window shop at your local bridal show. Looking for timeless ideas? You can look somewhere else for a lot cheaper price.
Good Ideas are timeless! January 23, 1999 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
While Martha may be the favorite "football" for most of America, I happen to like her work! This book is no exception. Although the book is several years old, it provides both amazing photography and solid ideas. Elegance does not have a pricetag nor does it have an expiration date. Martha's ideas inspire and leave the imaginative reader "primed" to create their own wedding fantasy.
Wait for an Updated Version November 23, 1998 This book was written in the EARLY 80's - and for a 90's bride, it is totally outdated. Don't bother spending money on this one until she writes an updated version, which hopefully should be expected soon. With Martha's popularity, you would think she wouldn't rely on this book to lead her into the 90's. Buy Colin Cowie or Beverly Clark instead.
Wonderfully illustrated, ideas for all budget levels! September 18, 1998 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
As a floral designer, I am in constant contact with today's brides. No matter what the budgetary constraints, I have yet to meet a bride that did not peruse the pages of this book during one of our consultations. Often a single photo will elicite "that's just what I'm looking for". Everyone can't afford a Martha Stewart wedding, but as always, her ideas are helpful for all. It's a good thing...
