Funny, informative, and personal February 18, 2006 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Doug Gordon's witty writing style guides the otherwise clueless groom through the preparatory steps leading up to the wedding. The book is a fun, educating read, and is best accompanied by perusing the author's blog; by the end, you'll feel like you actually lived the experience with him.
Love this book! January 30, 2006 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
I'm not a guy, nor am I engaged, and I really enjoyed this book. Gordon is funny and gives great advice. I'd recommend this to anyone.
The Best Wedding Advice Out There January 22, 2006 21 out of 22 found this review helpful
Forget about all the other books and magazines offering advice - Gordon's book is the real deal. His writing is clever and balanced. As a woman, I too can appreciate the advice Gordon gives, without feeling like the decisions I need to make are life threatening. Other bridal literature makes a bride feel like they need to make the best, most expensive choices to have the perfect day. Gordon reminds us to make decisions together, and from the heart. The wedding should reflect who we are, not what society dictates.
Best Wedding Book For Guys December 28, 2005 26 out of 27 found this review helpful
I gave this to my future husband to read just a few days ago and he devoured it overnight, laughing and enjoying himself along the way. I think he learned a lot too, because now he's helping out a lot more with wedding planning. I wound up flipping through the book and thought it was as good if not better than some of the books written for brides!
My favorite part was the bit about the worst songs to play at your wedding! I had heard two of them at a wedding I went to just a week before.
Based on my groom's initial reaction and my impression, I highly recommend this book, since too many others are either too silly or too serious. This seems to strike just the right tone.
