5 out of 5 stars Excellent general guide   May 8, 2006

I resisted buying this book, thinking it would be an old-fashioned fuddy-duddy sort of thing. It's not! I checked it out from the library recently to look up some invitation questions we had - and found that it has a wealth of information about every step of planning a wedding. It has solid, well-organized advice, and is up-to-date. It includes a chapter on using technology, for example, and when traditions have changed a bit, she mentions that both the established way of doing something, and also how practices are changing. Lists of questions to ask potential caterers, photographers, etc. are included.

I would list it as one of the two best books for wedding planning (the other one is "Bridal Bargains").

5 out of 5 stars if you could only have 1 wedding book, this is it!   March 30, 2006

I love this book. It has given me so much direction in the planning of my wedding. I knew little about wedding etiquete and this book has answered all my questions. You don't have to follow every etiquete point but you feel more confident about the traditional and personal aspects of your wedding. I bought many wedding books and magazines when I started planning the wedding, including the Martha Stewart books and magazines. Peggy Post's is the most informative by far.

5 out of 5 stars Wedding Etiquette 101   February 28, 2006

This is an updated edition of a standard, extremely useful title. In a time when good manners have gone the way of the dodo, this is an excellent guide to your wedding etiquette. It contains a wide range of helpful examples for wording invitations, types of ceremonies, suggestions for music, and ideas for receptions. It also contains information for non-tradional committment ceremonies. It is not a check list planner, but is very helpful for those who want to do it right.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Purchase!   September 20, 2005

I am studying to be a Wedding/Event Planner and this book is a part of my course study. I loved the material and featured Q&A. The book is very modern yet contemporary at the same time. An excellent buy for anyone planning their wedding or joining the wedding industry.

1 out of 5 stars Panic in the wedding aisle!   September 6, 2005

Yikes! I am newly engaged, and this book scared the bejebbers out of me! My fiance and I were looking at a simple wedding. This book intends to scare you into looking at more and more elaborate proceedings. Finally, you are at the point where you believe no one but a diety called a "wedding planner" can actually pull off a wedding.

Perhaps it is where I live and my social-economic class, but this book view of etiquette is manners that quickly translates into cash. I literally woke up in the middle of the night when I considered how much everything would cost and how far behind the wedding planning was.

My friends who are married knew what sort of wedding I had in mind and did not hestitate to tell me to send the book BACK.
