Wonderful! January 4, 2009 This book is great! It's the easiest way to make healthy food choices while you're out grocery shopping or eating out! This book shows you exactly what not to eat and why and healthy choices you can swap for your favorite foods! HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!!
Best gift I received for the Holiday's January 4, 2009 As I slowly learn more about getting and staying healthy, this book has proven to be a real eye opener. Health is really about becoming educated, and this book does that (for mostly fast food choices) in a way that is easy. With big colorful, side by side pages, of the good things to eat on the left panel, and their worse equivalent on the right panel. (along with several alternate choices for both). The book mainly lists alphabetically, every fast food and casual dining establishment out there. (KFC, Uno, Applebees, Arby's.) You get the picture. The comparisons are peppered with small facts about various topics revolving around food and fat content. Let's face it, sometimes we just don't have time to eat sensibly, and this book educates people and helps steer them toward more healthy choices.
It also have a short section for Supermarket item comparisons, specific meals to lean toward during special occasions, and even certain events like going to the movies. (there is a separate book recently released, JUST on Supermarket items)
In addition, it summarizes up a broad menu, from each type of restaurant you might go to, (Mexican, Italian, Chinese, etc.) and points out specific items/areas to avoid, and the more healthy options.
This is a great little desk reference, that you might want to keep a copy at both home and the office.
One of my favorite books! January 3, 2009 This is a fantastic book. It's easy to read, logical, practical, and has great suggestions all around. In addition to calories, it focuses on several health topics in general. Nice work! It's a great complement to Pearls of Wellness, (Pearls of Wellness 52 Inspirations to Achieve a Peaceful Body, Mind, and Spirit) which focuses more on the emotional aspect of health.
When you've gotta eat fast food... December 27, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Funny story. A friend of mine suggested I get this book. Instead, accidentally ended up with Player's Handbook Volume 4 - What to Eat (and How to Eat It) A Quick and Dirty Guide to Giving Great Oral Sex which is something totally different. Good book though. ;)
"Eat This, Not That" has helped me to get my diet under control.
I thought I knew a lot about nutrition, but this book has made me even more aware. I feel less confused and less guilty when eating at a fast food joint. It's not longer "all or nothing" but "shades of gray."
You can have a somewhat healthy diet and still lead a busy lifestyle. This book will show you how.
If anybody has suggestions of other similar books, please leave a comment and let me know. Thank you!
I wish there was more... December 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was great, but I feel as though it only game a limited amount of suggestions. Would have liked to see more. Perhaps that's what Volume 2 is for?
This is an incredible idea for a book. As somebody who travels a lot, it has helped me to become more aware of what I put inside my body. I feel as if I am making better decisions when eating out as well as grocery shopping.
I recommend this book for anybody who is concerned with fitness and health. Making good food choices will help your fitness goals in a big way.
