Makeup Makeovers: Weddings November 29, 2008 I am a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. Robert Jones is an awesome makeup artist. His book gives you all the tools that you need to assist the bride in becoming the most beautiful that she can be on her special day, as well as for the entire wedding party. In this book, Robert gives all the times, locations and circumstances for a wedding and how make the most for each bride. All you have to do is follow his instructions and the transformation of the bride will be utterly indescribable. I enthusiastically recommend this book.
Makeup Makeovers: Weddings November 27, 2008 This is a great book. Many if not all of the makeup styles displayed in the book can be used as an everyday makeup look. You do not have to use these looks for weddings only. There are lots of pictures in the book (at least 12 looks). Also there are at least three women of color, so there is a look for everyone in the book.
pleasant surprise November 10, 2008 I have read every book out there, so I thought what could this book offer. I was so surprised, Mr. Jones really gave me so much food for thought. I do makeup for a living (and of course that means a lot of brides), he thought of things that I do out of instinct and from trial and error, but it is amazing to know why I do them. Now all women will know what does make a difference when getting married (like what to do to photograph you most beautiful) AMAZING! I have bought this book for all my friends and fellow makeup artist. This just proves no matter how much you think you know you can always learn more!!!!
Pretty looks, mostly the same however, and NOT for the bridal party! July 14, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book offers many beautiful looks for a glowing bride. The section for the bridal party was HALF a page and was completely pointless. If you want to look classically beautiful then this is the book for you. I am a makeup artist and have done many many weddings for many different types of people, and while this book has nice pictures, it doesn't offer anything different than the standard shimmery eyes and nude lips. What about the alternative bride, who wants to wear blue eyeshadow? This book basically says thats not what you're supposed to do. I just did a wedding where the bride wore a beehive and had thick cat lined eyes, and she looked AMAZING- to say that you have to wear your makeup only 1 way is bad advice. There is NOTHING wrong with wanting to step outside the bridal box and have fun on your day- this books makes it seem like thats wrong. There is more than 1 type of person in the world :) Other than that the looks were pretty standard, but nice.
beautiful make-up ideas May 21, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a professional bridal make-up artist in Australia and was compelled to buy this book after seeing it on Amazon. I have to say the make-up is stunning and the instructions are easy to follow. It's always very inspriring to see the work of other make-up artists and gather new ideas. This book would be ideally suited to someone who has a bit of make-up-savvy, i.e. someone who knows how to apply the basics. So many of the brides I meet really don't know their mascara from their blusher! My only critisisms are that many of the pictures are repeated over and over again and it is clear that they have been computer-enhanced to some degree, therefore creating a very 'perfect' finish, which is virtually impossible in reality. Nevertheless this is a true milestone in terms of make-up publications and it is one that should grace any self-respecting coffee table. Well done Robert!
