Best workout EVER! Layout is a little inconvenient, though December 4, 2008 I've been doing this workout for about four weeks and I am already seeing TREMENDOUS results. My arms are more toned than they've ever been, and I am actually close to seeing a flat stomach on me for the first time in my life! The workout is really ideally structured (picks up in intensity as the wedding date approaches--there are three- and six-month programs), and each exercise is very clearly described.
I have three minor complaints about this book. The first is that you have to keep flipping around the book to figure out what you're supposed to be doing (the program is in one portion of the book; the individual layouts and pictures are in another), but as you get further into the program, you start to remember the workout (even if you forget how many reps you are supposed to be doing...). The second is that there is no equivalent cardio section (you are told to do so many minutes of cardio a week, but it'd be great if it were as detailed as the weightlifting portion... then again, I guess we can't all be told to "run!" and actually do it. :) The third is that there's no tips to follow up. I am more than six months from my wedding, and I would like to continue the workout even after the big day because it's such a great workout, and I don't know if I should start increasing weight and repeat the last week's workout, or start over, or what!
Great Exercises, Not-so-great Nutrition Info September 13, 2008 Just based on the title, you can't expect much about dieting, but I was at least hoping for more than how to balance my meals. She tells you things like "you should eat 15-20 percent of your calories from proteins," but that requires actually planning my meals for the whole day...something I can't easily do. I wish she had some examples of daily menus and how the foods you eat can boost your performance when you work out. Besides that, I love this book. Each and every exercise has a clear picture and directions. Also, you can choose which work out plan to do (24 weeks or 12 weeks) depending on how much time until your big day! She tells you which exercises to do on which days and they only take me about 30 minutes! I definitely have been feeling the effects of working out (more energy, motivated, slightly sore). I usually hate to exercise because I find it a waste of time; however, this book is empowering and I'm excited to be toning up. She knows all the exercises that will give us the results we want! If you will be doing these exercises from home, you will need to purchase an exercise ball and some light weights (3,5, 8, or 10 depending on your level). Also, you should have a sturdy coffee table, a chair, and an exercise mat if you don't have soft carpet. Some of the exercises call for ankle weights, but I've managed without them. I recommend this book to any brides-to-be or anyone who is eager to shape up. Good luck!
Great book! April 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this book to get ready for my upcoming wedding this summer. It's a great book. It's very easy to read and has a great personal touch. I love how she has pre-planned the workouts and is giving realistic time frames. I read it in one day and I love her exercises. They are very reasonable and she explains them great.
Not Just For Brides January 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is awesome! It is easy to follow and includes a well balanced weight training program. There are pictures of each exercize as well as differentiation for Beginner, Intermediate, and Experienced levels. Plus, you don't need much equipment to get the job done! Just a few handweights and an exercise ball. I showed this book to a personal trainer and he said it is exactly the same as routines that he designs for $75 a session. Great Buy!
Targeted Program for Brides December 2, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I first received this product, my husband (then fiancee) was a bit concerned about the title. Buff he said?? I calmed him down by saying that the book was all about toning and firming. It is arranged by area you would like to work on, like arms, back, chest, tummy, and butt. It was nice to have specific exercises for target areas. I really felt like it worked and I felt beautiful on my wedding day.
I thought the suggested programs were helpful as it had specifics on which exercises to do for each week. It had a Buff Bride program for the bride with 6 months and a 12 week Crash Program for those brides with less time. My only suggestion would be that I would have liked to see some color in the book. The black and white pictures are only so inspiring. My preference is for color pictures, but maybe that is just me.
