| Customer Reviews:
Didn't like the spiritism January 4, 2009 I was initially interested in this book for the personal growth factor and knew there would be some spiritism that doesn't agree with my beliefs, I was able to "chew the meat and spit out the bones" for some of it but there was a lot language that I felt wasn't necessary that was against my own beliefs. I think the points could have been made and gotten across without some of the offensive language, such as the generalism of how people are brought up and taught. I disagreed with much of what was said.
The "Four Agreements" itself were good and true and could see how they would only benefit anyone, but there really were no instructions on practicing them. It is as if someone were to tell a depressed person to stop being a depressed or an overweight person to stop eating so much.
We all probably know not to take things personally, but how do you go about doing this? This (#2) is my biggest challenge in life, and although I also had the workbook to refer to, it was riddled with spiritism and toltec language that I don't want to implement in my life or my beliefs.
Fortunately I borrowed this book so no monetary loss was experienced.
Life changing! January 4, 2009 This book is life changing. Implementing the principles of the four agreements is a key to being at peace with yourself. It's a great complement to Pearls of Wellness (Pearls of Wellness 52 Inspirations to Achieve a Peaceful Body, Mind, and Spirit).
Nothing but a whole bunch of fluff. January 1, 2009 Sometimes the most obvious answers are overlooked, which is why I enjoyed the inside flap of this book.
I could have done without the rest of it, however.
I completely agree with another reviewer that the author's writing style is way too repetitive. I guess that's to be expected when you're faced with the task of turning four sentences into a full-blown book.
As you can imagine, really painful to read through.
It kind of reminded me of when I was in elementary school and I had to write three full paragraphs about why orange was my favorite color.
The most important parts of the book are already revealed in the description Amazon has provided, so I suggest you save yourself the money as you already know what's going on.
I am returning the book the same day I bought and read it.
The Four Agreements December 28, 2008 The Four Agreements is such a simple and powerfull book!I feel that if everyone in the world read it with an open mind...the world would be a much more peacefull place.
The Four Agreements Audio Book. December 28, 2008 I had long read (several times) the book by the time I picked the audiobook from a local store, more than out of curiosity than anything else as I've always felt than nothing beats reading the book. I was very very surprised with the quality of the reader they used for this.
I've been using it before I fall asleep and the voice transports me to another place and it is almost as if I was listening to ancient teachings spoken by an elder, wise and old. As it is unabridged, I fully recommend this to anybody who wants to take the teachings found on the book to the next level.
