Terrific advice and cost-cutting tips! February 12, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My fiancee and I are dreading planning our wedding! We are buying a house before we get married, mainly so we have an excuse to procrastinate on wedding planning. We are tossing around a lot of ideas casually though, and the reigning solution is a small private island wedding ceremony, followed by an immense luau or barbecue when we return. I figured I'd be doing a ton of resarch to get this accomplished. I was so pleased to find it all in one book, already done!!!! The overview of the legal requirements for island weddings is exactly what we needed. And the real-life anecdotes helped tremendously. On top of all that, I found a lot of cost cutting tips which had never entered my mind. Now we might actually have a wedding some day, instead of staying engaged forever!
Nothing new here February 1, 2002 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this book because, in a quick look at the bookstore, it seemed to take a relaxed, calming approach to wedding planning, and I was lured by its tasteful cover compared to the glaring pink and flower & bells bedecked covers of its neighbors. However, I did not find this book to be remotely useful. Despite its title, it had very little to offer by way of making your wedding unique or personalized. It also did not have much helpful advice for coping with the stresses and organizational nightmares of planning a wedding.
One of the best wedding books I've read! August 17, 2000 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you are planning a wedding and are tired of people telling you what you "should" and "shouldn't" do, then this book is for you. This is also one of the few books I've seen that says anything at all about eloping...there's a whole chapter here that will help you decide if this is for you, and ideas for how to do it right! Another good chapter is the one on destination weddings. This book is fun to read, and there are lots of comments from real brides and grooms. I recommend it 100%.
Fun, non-traditional wedding guide March 26, 2000 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This book is great if you are planning your wedding and you're sick and tired of all of the "shoulds" that go along with weddings. L. Ingram writes about many non-traditional, off-the-beaten-path ways to make your wedding fun and memorable without getting swallowed by all of the details that seem to seperate brides and grooms from the REAL reason why they are getting married.
