Dull.. December 7, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I requested that my library buy this book, then I waited anxiously for it to arrive, and now I'm extremely disappointed.
I expected original, imaginative, or at least humorous cards. I was hoping for ideas for our Christmas cards. All but a handful (maybe 6) of the cards in this book were corny, poorly done, and boring. I suppose that if you knew the people pictured it would hold more meaning.. but for a book like this, it was a huge let down. I'm really confused as to how this book was selected for publication. I think a trip to any thrift store or a search on flickr would yield more inspiration than this book does.
Get into the holiday spirit!!! November 18, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book is inspiring and amazing! I'm filled with ideas for this years christmas card. All of the cards are original (meaning real people sent them to their friends and family) and either hit your funny bone or touch your heart with tidings of joy. Go out and buy copies for everyone, they are terrific stocking stuffers, thats what I just did!
Great Ideas! November 17, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got some really good ideas for great Christmas cards from this book. It is so fun to see what other people have thought up as well.
My son who juggles got chosen for this book! November 16, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This wonderful author scanned thousands of photos, and much to my surprise chose a photo of my red-headed boy in the midst of juggling Christmas ornaments. And it is NOT re-touched. My boy is actually juggling in the photo!
This card has been a favorite of our friends and family but to see it along with those other wonderful photos of kids, and dogs dressed up, etc. is a magical experience.
Each photo in the book touched our hearts. We all "need a little Christmas" every day of our lives.
Thanks!

'TIS THE SEASON October 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
There'll be no question about getting into the spirit of the holiday season if you have a copy of this little book on hand. Merry Christmas From... is a collection of 150 Christmas cards. The subtitle describes them as cards "You Wish You'd Received." Maybe yes, maybe no. Whether or not you wish they'd been dropped in your mail many of them are laugh-out-loud funny, others are tender, touching, all are highly imaginative, and really were sent.
Author Robert has a rather unusual passion - Christmas cards. She's spent several years finding all she can, and those included in this little volume are her best picks.
It's an easy guess that many folks devote their cards to their children, but few would think of posing their darlings as wee fairies among daffodils with the greeting reading "Have a fairy Merry Christmas" or placing their tiny baby under a Christmas tree with the greeting "God made her for us...Merry Christmas."
People are also funny and tender when it comes to sending photos of their pets. Picture a contented canine snoozing in a Santa cap, another in pseudo antlers asking "Do these antlers make me look fat?"
What photo would you think appropriate to pair with Joan Rivers' line "The only thing you don't want to find in your stocking on Christmas morning is your husband"?
There's something for everyone in Merry Christmas From... Enjoy!
