advice for setting the iron-on so it doesn't wash off? December 31, 2008 This product is super cute and I was really thrilled to get it for christmas. The application went fine, smooth & vibrant, but it did wash off in the laundry. Anyone have advice for setting the iron-on once it's trasfered?
Too bad... December 28, 2008 I am disappointed in these iron-ons because I thought they were absolutely adorable and was excited to give iron-ons a try. I followed the directions carefully (make sure iron is hot, apply heavy pressure for 3-5 minutes, etc.) and still the transfers turned out very light and the details weren't visible. Many of the iron-ons are small, and there isn't extra space around the actual picture, so when I lifted my iron off of the garment, the iron-on/transfer sheet came with the iron. (And I don't think that's how it's supposed to happen.) I am new at iron-ons, so maybe this is all user-error?! (And I welcome any helpful hints, because I'd love to make these work.)
Save your money December 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Save your money. These are hard to apply and wash out in the wash. I wasted a lot of time and a lot of money on failed attempts, even after closely following the directions. Back to the drawing board for these.
Less Than I Expected December 21, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I saw this in the December issue of Real Simple and decided to give it a try. I wanted to make a few cute items out of plain long sleeve t's as stocking stuffers for my 15 month old son. It came in the mail today and I flipped through it to see what designs are available.
There are some cute squirrels and hedgehogs, foxes, deer, etc. and a few African animals (elephants, a giraffe etc.) but there is also a whole page of the same pink and brown butterflies, a page of similar looking flowers. Some of them I would use, but a lot of it just isn't my cup of tea. For instance there are a few transfers of a crudely drawn hand that look as if there is a Mexican skull on each of the fingernails...um okay. There is a transfer of what looks like a rabbit head with a wrestling mask on it. Weird. To its credit, there are two pages of each design that have letters and a few frames that are nice.
Overall, I wish the colors were brighter and more vibrant. The retro feel with darker shades of olive, mustard and pink are kind of cute for fall. I guess I was expecting something that was a little more kid oriented. Also, this isn't really for making stuff that would be cute for a little boy. There aren't any airplanes or cars in it. I would love to have seen some retro looking rockets, funky dinosaurs, some bugs or some simple gender neutral iconic images.
I gave it three stars because it is a neat idea, and I can use it to make stuff for my friend's brand new little girl or embelish my canvas grocery bags.
Adorable and Easy Crafting! December 15, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I pre-ordered this book months ago and waited and waited. I finally got it in 2 days ago and it was well worth the wait! Adorable and funky pictures ready to iron on anything- I will be designing some cute onesies for my new baby. What a great gift idea! Super easy and fun, this pad comes with tons of prints that will last a long time...I need to come up with more things to embellish!
