I buy this book every year as I'm a guitar collector. But it also helps me inform my friends of the right price they have to invest whenever they want to buy a guitar. I could not do without it!
 A Good resource for the Guitar Aficionado or Collector December 21, 2008
The book is updated for 2009. And it correctly shows the collector market taking a downturn for 2009. It is quite comprehensive and covers most makes of guitars. It would be difficult to list every guitar made but I was a bit disappointed to discover many brands are simply listed with a short one liner. I expect a comprehensive guide to at least describe the types of guitars those makers produce if not values of each.
Overall there is a lot of information where you need it. Fender and Gibson USA are covered in great detail with all years and appointments for every model I've ever owned and many of the quite rare and unique.
This is THE guide to own if you will be buying, selling, appraising or collecting guitars at a very reasonable price.
Great overview on guitars and amps December 20, 2008
The 2009 Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide is a great overview on todays vintage and comtempory guitars and amps. Though I think some prices are rated a bit too high and some are a bit too low you get a pretty good idea about prices. When you intend to buy, also use other sources to check you pay the right price. This is a very nice reference.

Great bellweather guide for virtually any guitar, bass, amp and stompbox out there. This type of information is great for owners, sellers, and potential buyers, especially in these turbulent times! It is well worth the reasonable price!

I buy this every year.An excellent tool for anybody buying a used instrument,also a way of valuing what you alseady have.Will prevent overpaying on ebay where pricing can be erratic due to over enthusiastic bidders.I would very much like to see pricing for the excellent Japanese and Korean guitars as i believe they will become very desirable as time goes on,but for now,this book is strongly recommended.
