Editorial Reviews:

Product Description

With more than 100,000 copies sold of his self-published book, The Biology of Belief, Bruce Lipton teams up with Hay House to bring his message to an even wider audience. This book is a groundbreaking work in the field of new biology, and it will forever change how you think about thinking. Through the research of Dr. Lipton and other leading-edge scientists, stunning new discoveries have been made about the interaction between your mind and body and the processes by which cells receive information. It shows that genes and DNA do not control our biology, that instead DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell, including the energetic messages emanating from our thoughts. Using simple language, illustrations, humor, and everyday examples, he demonstrates how the new science of Epigenetics is revolutionizing our understanding of the link between mind and matter and the profound effects it has on our personal lives and the collective life of our species.

5 out of 5 stars Med Student, Loves Bruce!   January 8, 2009
Dr. Lipton is truely brilliant.

I'm a medical student. I'm also a shamanic healer, who works with energy work and herbal and thought therapy with her clients. This ties the two together perfectly, explaining how my two worlds, who for some reason oppose eachother greatly, actually blend so beautifully.

I think every med student, every biology student, and every PERSON should read this book, read it with an open mind, read it and try it, don't naysay.

There was once a time where the world thought that the world was flat. Where people who said it wasn't where laughed at, ridiculed. There was a time when doctors drilled holes in schizophrenics heads to let the demons out, and cut their feet open to let the evil out when they had the flu, and that was not questioned at all. The world has a history of constantly believing that we know everything. We know what it all means, and we are CERTAIN! but almost without fail, with study, and people working against that majority, as they are ridiculed, the majority is proven wrong.

I'm saying read it knowing that we dont know everything. Read it and understand.
Esspecially if you have a background in biology, this will prove a tremendous help and explain a lot of things that may have confused you in the past, if your anything like me, someone who questions everything they learn constantly ;)

enjoy, its really a great read.

5 out of 5 stars If you are interested in getting beyond your "genetic heritage..."   December 19, 2008

As a person who has lived her life with the bone marrow deep conviction that her biology was her destiny, The Biology of Belief was shocking and wonderful. I certainly did not want to continue to live with my family's "depression inheritance," and if you don't either, please read this book.
Everyone's journey is unique, but Lipton's research did help me to finally get past my family's sad history. Perhaps it will help you also.

5 out of 5 stars Interesting and more..   December 19, 2008

I just finished this book and it is interesting on so many levels. I do agree with Dr.Lipton's ideas and I think anyone can apply them to people they know well to see he is right about "belief" affecting outcomes of people's lives. I have always studied people and their situations either good or bad and this book helped put one more piece to the puzzle of what makes for a successful or not successful life. I think the chapters for parents or parents-to-be were extremely interesting and valuable. I only have one dispute there born out of personal experience. I was for my lst (unplanned) pregnancy (which my husband of 10 yrs did not want) overworked, stressed and had 1 job and also owned a company so I worked 7 days a week and was divorced after the baby was born. So,according to Dr. Lipton that child could have come into the world with all of those negative messages and not have been a happy camper after being influenced by all of that choas. But that did not happen at all--quite the opposite. He was and is an amazing person--and it surprised me that everywhere he goes people love him! The 2nd child born 10 yrs later (I was newly remarried) was the star of our world and our friends and families world as well. I felt like a celebrity mom. And child #1 was so fabulous--I really looked forward to #2. According to Dr. Lipton supposedly #2 would have benefited by such good climate all round. While carrying child #2, I was never happier in my life or in my work. It was the happiest time of my life. But that 2nd child was born with medical problems, learning problems, speech problems, Add,LD,and his life for a long time was very unhappy. The lst child had one of those lives people envy and he was loved by all and still is today.I thought I was the greatest parent alive! Unfortunately, #2 had the opposite life and was not liked by many adults or his peers. It was a tough road to bear for this kid for many yrs and hard for us as his parents. So, while I agree with 99% of Dr. Lipton's book--I cannot agree with the chapter on fetus development outcome linked with their parent's attitude, etc. during pregnancy. I do agree that babies are very aware in the womb but I had two distinct opposite experiences that dispute his proposed outcome for those children. Both of my children's outcome--developed the opposite of their in utero climate.

2 out of 5 stars THE BIOLOGY OF BELIEF   December 16, 2008

I was attracted to this book by the title. However, I find the book too technical too really understand the message the author is intending. For me, a lot of the words I do not know how to pronounce and do not know what they mean and this prevents me from understanding the message of the book. Anyone with a background similar to the author will no doubt totally enjoy the book.

4 out of 5 stars Great insight and ideas, lacks a close   December 13, 2008
Very compelling ideas and some really thought provoking science.

No methods at the end and a little too sure of the meaning for me. But, I will take much from this book.

I am left wanting something more in identifying underlying beliefs (follow your feelings at times is the best advice I have gotten for that) and how to construct better ones. BeliefWorks by Ray Dodd helped a bit with that.
