Product Description The Personal Workbook is a companion to Breaking the Chain of Low Self-Esteem and is intended for use with a copy of the book. In her first book, Breaking the Chain of Low Self-Esteem, Dr. Sorensen revealed startling new insights into the inner experience of those who suffer from low self-esteem (LSE). For these insights and her ground-breaking work, she has received high praise from readers and mental health professionals alike. Now in response to numerous requests for more information about her successful recovery program, she presents this workbook as a guide for overcoming LSE. As is typical of all her work, The Personal Workbook quickly zooms in on the core issues of low self-esteem, guiding readers to understand their inner experience and validating their feelings. At the same time, Dr. Sorensen teaches LSE sufferers to recognize, dismantle, and alter the distorted and irrational thinking process that drives them to perform self-defeating behaviors and that prevents them from developing new skills. This workbook will guide you to: -Discover how your low self-esteem (LSE) was formed and who was responsible. -Understand the inner experience of LSE and how it plays out in your life. -Recognize the ways in which your irrational thinking creates your negative feelings. -Learn how to dismantle the distorted negative self-talk that is the conduit through which your LSE is maintained. -Develop control over your thinking so that it is based entirely on fact, truth, and history. -Alter your self-defeating behaviors as you take control of your thinking. -Establish a new and more positive way of viewing yourself and those around you. -Relish in the opportunities and challenges that come your way. -Set goals with the expectation of achieving them. -Build healthy new relationships or strengthen those you now have. -Recapture the energy and enthusiasm for life that has eluded you.

Great to improve your self-esteem September 7, 2008 I think everyone has a problem with self-esteem. I found that the workbook along with the Breaking the Chain of Low Self esteem book very revealing and comprehensive. You can do the program without a therapist, but a therapist would help answer additional questions you might have. I highly recommend both books!
Great Help for continuing to work on LSE Recovery February 4, 2003 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
This workbook brought up many emotions and remembrances from my childhood that helped me to understand how my low self-esteem was formed. Working through it also enabled me to more closely see the ways in which my thinking controls my feelings and how often my thinking is distorted because of the negative feelings I have about myself. It was tough to work through but very rewarding.
Great self discovery guide! October 6, 2002 17 out of 19 found this review helpful
I enjoy the combination of informative reading about low self esteem & the exercises of going through my childhood. It allows me to address my feelings about the people, incidents & other areas of my childhood, adolescence & teen years.Through 2 stories in the workbook, it asks what were the negative reactions to the situation, then asks how a person with healthy self esteem would respond to these situations. These exercises illustrated how to change your feelings to a situation that has been uncomfortable before. Following the order in the workbook, I enjoyed the variety of going through the "obstacles", then reading a chapter of "Breaking the Chains of Low Self Esteem", then going back to the obstacle exercises in the workbook. It seems like an adventure and I look forward to moving on to the next one!
