Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Praise for Covert Persuasion:

"This book is a treasure trove of ideas you can use to turn a 'no' into a 'yes' almost instantly-in any sales situation."
-Brian Tracy, speaker and author of Create Your Own Future and Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life

"Hogan is the master of persuasion. I urge you to persuade yourself to buy this book and everything he's ever written and recorded. It will help you understand yourself, understand others, and succeed. This information is bankable."
-Jeffrey Gitomer, author of The Sales Bible, Little Red Book of Selling, and Little Red Book of Sales Answers

"There's more wisdom in this book than in 500 pages on the same subject. Whether you need to persuade your lover, your spouse, your boss, your clients, your friends, or yourself, this powerhouse collection of mind tricks and secrets will give you the upper hand. In today's competitive world, this is the persuasion wizard's manual you need to control circumstances and get what you want."
-Dr. Joe Vitale, author of Life's Missing Instruction Manual and The Attractor Factor

"When you read Hogan's writing, it feels like you're getting sage advice from a master. Would you like other people to decide on their own (or so they think) to go along with your every whim? Then this is the book you've been looking for."
-David Garfinkel, author of Advertising Headlines That Make You Rich

"There is more practical information on the dynamics of selling and communication in these pages than you could ever acquire in a lifetime on your own through trial and error. Take advantage of the authors' wisdom and read this book!"
-Todd D. Bramson, Certified Financial Planner and author of Real Life Financial Planning

3 out of 5 stars Would recommend to someone who sells.   December 24, 2008
I did learn some from this book but it more geared for selling than anything else- which I couldn't get into.

3 out of 5 stars Good Ideas, Poor Presentation   December 17, 2008

There are many decent and well thought out ideas in this book, however, the author too often will present an idea and not tell you what to do with it.
"Know that we all delete, distort, and generalize and use this to your advantage by helping people to do these things in the direction and amount that will make your request most appealing to them."

...how? there aren't enough concrete examples and applications for some of these ideas to be useful. there was literally only one page covering all three of these topics, with a paragraph on each.

again, good ideas, simply poor presentation.

Another thing that was agitating was the fact that the author kept using this book as a plug for his "Science of Influence" CD and his website. I buy this book to learn about persuasion, not to try to be sold to AGAIN. The fact that he would say things like "those who have gone through Science of Influence will know what I'm talking about". It takes away from his credibility when you see that it's not objective.

5 out of 5 stars Well Thought Out   October 27, 2008

I bought this book based on a reference in Secrets of the A Game by Logan Edwards. Both of these books are excellent. Although the tactics in Covert Persuasion might be tricky for some guys, I didn't have a problem with it. Definitely on par with Mystery Method, perhaps even better. I highly recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars Great information - must concentrate - technical and slightly laborious.   August 31, 2008

To be fair, I have not read the book cover to cover yet - rarely do.

I must give it four stars, because the information is accurate and extremely useful. However, this book is not an entertaining read. The book does not flow well - one must search diligently for specifics.

I purchased the book hoping that it would be a quick reference book - that - it is not - although the information provided is accurate and engaging - it requires a concentrated amount of time and attention to the material to grasp the concepts clearly.

I was hoping for something to review quickly and to subsequently use as reference for situations requiring persuasive discourse. It does not lend itself well to this scenario, yet does provide valuable information.

Excellent information, accurate and useful - slightly difficult to digest.
