Great for a newbie November 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm from tech land and have never put together a business plan before. This book, and the forms are a nice gentle introduction to that process. It's probably boring if you have a BBA but if your degree is in CS it's a reasonably quick read.
Appropriate at all levels! October 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Whether you are building a business plan for your eyes only or for a project or a new corporation, this book is uniquely helpful in thinking things through. The biggest problem where most people fail in business is in not having a written plan. Or they never get around to reading the books or doing all the exercises in the books. This one is fun and straight forward. It is not difficult to understand. It is very appropriate.
Textbook for my clients... October 13, 2008 People creating their first business need to start with this book. Putting together a plan that the bank will loan money on is de-mystified. For the past year this has been THE essential textbook for my business clients. I have them read it in the first month and then we use it througout the contract.
Business Plans Kit for Dummies December 2, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I had never bought one of these "Dummies" series books, I was a little embarrassed to, but I was wrong. Never had I read something in such "plain" english. I needed to prepare a Business Plan, and I needed to do it without spending a lifetime learning about it. This book helped me more then I thought possible. I only wish everything could be explained like this. I highly recommend it if a Business Plan is in your future for writing and you have no prior experience writing one.
Should be called Thinking of Starting a Business 101!! November 4, 2007 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
Yeah, this is really the book for dummies because that is exactly how it is written. Don't buy this book unless you are someone whose mind is not yet made up about whether or not you want to start your own business. What this book makes you do is decide whether you have the mindset to be a business owner and then it takes you through a "high-school-like" ritual of developing your plan and in the end still does not get you there. It is literally the first step for someone who has not researched business ownership at all. The cd is absolutely no help! Don't get it if you're trying to develop a business plan unless you're doing it for your high school business teacher!
