A practical guide to addressing reading problems in children February 10, 2003 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have found this book to be an extremely useful guide to teaching children to read. I have read numerous books on this subject and cannot recommend this book highly enough. I am helping a number of children with their reading at my child's school and have found the step-by-step suggestions in this book to be practical and thorough for all the children I work with. This book is written in a positive manner, which is important for parents of children with reading problems. It helps them to understand the potential causes of reading problems, how to determine why a particular child is having problems and how to use different techniques to address those problems, while at the same time helping them to understand that many problems have nothing to do with intelligence. Lastly, this book provides sufficient detail that an adult can easily implement the techniques described.
