Product Description Everybody loves a wedding--especially a wonderful, lively and crazy ITALIAN one! That is why the nationally acclaimed, San Diego-based band, ROMAN HOLIDAY, decided to create the ultimate Italian Wedding CD, filled with lively and passionate Italian wedding favorites guaranteed to fill the reception hall with plenty of "AMORE." As an added bonus, the CD features a 16-page "How To" booklet that takes the prospective bride and groom, wedding planner, or DJ step-by-step through an Italian American Wedding reception. The booklet describes each part of the reception itinerary and gives a history of the traditional Italian wedding songs played at each segment, which corresponds to a listing on the CD track. Recorded live in a state-of-the-art studio using up to 25 performers, the musical selections include traditional songs to accompany the Grand Entrance/ Bridal Party Processional, the First Dance, the Father-Daughter Dance, the Mother-Son Dance, the Grand March, the Tarantella, the Cake Cutting and Money Dance. In addition, Italian wedding favorites such as "That's Amore," the "Chicken Dance," and "C'e La Luna Mezza Mare" are included. The CD also includes selections of swing, mambo, and tango music and even gives an outline of how to dance the Tarantella, a definite "must do" at an Italian wedding. "If you ask people what comes into mind when they think of an Italian American wedding, they'll mention the good food and all the fun they had dancing to the music," said Tony DiBona, band leader and producer of the Italian Wedding CD. "All the cherished Italian American traditions come together at a wedding celebration and the music is truly the heart and soul of the Italian wedding experience-after the food, of course!" The CD is a perfect choice for wedding couples of Italian American heritage who want to keep traditional customs alive but need a guide to help them along. "We packaged the CD so that the DJ in Topeka or the wedding coordinator in Baton Rouge can produce an authentic Italian American wedding-- even if the closest Italian community is hundreds of miles away," said DiBona. "If you are an Italian American and are planning a wedding reception around your heritage, this is the guide for you. And if you're neither Italian nor planning a wedding, we bet you'll still be moved to clap your hands and move your feet when you listen to these lively and romantic songs," DiBona added. It is also a wonderful compilation of favorite Italian songs, performed by excellent musicians, to be enjoyed by ANYONE who loves Italian and Italian American music. The ROMAN HOLIDAY show band, now in its tenth year, has performed for festivals and corporate events in cities across the country and has appeared in several Hollywood films. Their lively and colorful show includes a wide repertoire of Italian-style music and dance.

My Sicilian parents LOVED this CD November 19, 2008 I bought this CD on Amazon.com for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. I figured it would work for them fifty years' later, and it did. The neat thing about this recording is that is live and from the heart....not a bunch of old songs from old recordings, but really cool renditions of songs from the Italian American book. We loved the crowd backgrounds and the accordion, as well as the heartfelt vocals, plus all the love that was put in the wedding guide (which we didn't need of course, but saved for our son and daughter in case they marry soon !!!). My mother cried when she heard Mamma, but she smiled at all the happy songs she remembered from her childhood. Our guests enjoyed every trakc. This is a wonderful CD and we can recommend it very much.
Sounds Like A Struggling Italian Wedding Band From New Jersey-YUCK! November 18, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
...and I LOVE New Jersey, really I do!!!! I lived in New Jersey for many years and later in New York City for 12 yrs (up until a few years ago). My husband is from New Jersey. My entire family lives in New Jersey and I LOVE New Jersey...but really, folks...this CD is NOT that great! Actually, it is rather awful!
Listening to it might be a guilty little pleasure for some but it is truly not a great representation of classic Italian festive music.
I must agree with Mr. Caputo on a few points. This CD was a HUGE disappointment when I played it, especially after reading all the rave reviews about it on this Amazon website (which is why I purchased it)!
My mom was born near Napoli and came here as a little girl (with her tribe of siblings); my dad's mom & dad were pregnant with him when they came to the USA from Roma in 1922 (with 5 kids in tow). I grew up listening to all sorts of Italian music and at best, this CD is a mediocre assortment of some of the cheesiest Italian music I have ever heard, especially pertaining to the "Wedding" arrangements.
The guy who does most of the singing is tolerable (I guess) but the woman who sings...UGGGGHHHH-AWFUL! I think that is my biggest complaint with the CD...the vocals are awful and some of the arrangements are, well...too American-ized. I'd much rather listen to Dean Martin, Jerry Vale, Perry Como, Lou Monte, Mario Lanza, etc, etc than the people on this CD.
Some of the arrangements are all wrong. To me, the songs are really arranged to sound like cheesy Italian American tunes and are not great representations of "Roman Holiday" tunes, or Italian Wedding Tunes, let alone great Italian folk music, festive music or "happy" music (think Wedding).
Here are some of my major disturbances with the CD:
1) We all know about Connie Francis...okay. Having said that, I've NEVER heard a female sing "Mamma" at an Italian Wedding...and I'm 50 yrs old & I have about 100 cousins, so I've been to LOTS of Italian weddings in my lifetime. Wedding or not, the arrangement on this CD is horrible...YUCK-AWFUL;
2) "C'e La Luna," with all that giddy, fake, canned laughter in the background, is HORRIBLE, let's face it. So are all the other tunes with the canned laughter-YUCK;
3)"Sciuri Sciuri"-AWFUL..barely recognizeable...sounds like the singers are on speed;
5) "The Chicken Dance" (???)...okay, okay...I know...it's supposed to be Italian Wedding music, "Mambo Italiano" (c'mon, Rosemary Clooney & Dean Martin are probably rolled over in their graves), "Oh Marie" (really "Che Maria"), "Tiki Ti Polka"...absolutely awful...off key, off tempo, incorrect words...tacky arrangements.
6) Finally, I primarily bought this album solely for the "Piccolo Fiore" and "Chitarra Romana" tunes, which my dad used to sing to me when I was a little girl. I was so disappointed in Piccolo Fiore. IF YOU WANT TO HEAR A BEAUTIFUL VERSION OF THIS SONG, DOWNLOAD MARIO GAULTIERI'S VERSION, WHICH IS ON YOUTUBE. Much nicer, IMHO!!! I can tolerate "Chitarra Romana" but barely :0(
Really, this CD is not representative of great Italian classics (Festive, Wedding or otherwise) nor are the arrangements well done. And the vocals, especially the female ones, are horrid.
It really is wickedly tacky...piacere, non e buono affatto :0(

Can't find Italian music better than this July 5, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This CD is more than we expected. It's great for an Italian wedding, as it includes a great booklet to guide you through a traditional Italian wedding, but it is such a lively, fun, authentic CD, you could use it for any Italian themed event, from parties to festivals. It got my Nonna up dancing, so I know it was authentic and earned five stars!!!
Simply Fantastico--my review of The Italian Wedding CD May 7, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've read many a review about this CD on the internet, so I had to add my two cents. There is no better Italian Wedding CD on the market. Every track is performed live and one can hear that is it not canned. The music brings joy to the soul, and to any Italian event not only weddings. We LOVED it for our Nonna's 90th birthday. We will use it for our daughter's wedding next year. 5 stars.
Like Having A Live Performance March 16, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
We had wonderful, fun wedding party dances with The Italian Wedding CD by Roman Holiday. We live in Japan where wedding parties usually consist of long speeches but we wanted to liven up ours with some music from our family traditions. The Italian Wedding music provided such a lively atmosphere with not only the vibrant music and lovely singing but also with all the background cheering. It got everybody up and dancing, which was amazing, considering how shy the locals usually are. A booklet explaining the background on how to do the dances is included, which was very helpful. This CD sounds like a live performance . We are really pleased with it and can't recommend it highly enough. Also, our plans were last minute and Giovanni and Tony very kindly sent their CD by Express mail and we got it in a couple days, in time for our wedding party. Their Italian Wedding Party album made our party so much fun!
