Product Description Selleck plays a famous mystery writer whos flipped his pages over a ravishing romanian who just happens to be a murder suspect. Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 02/03/2004 Starring: Tom Selleck Pauline Porizkova Run time: 96 minutes Rating: Pg13 Director: Bruce Beresford
Amazon.com To see why Tom Selleck's movie career has been a constant uphill battle, look no further than this tepid mystery/comedy from 1989. Selleck plays a successful mystery novelist who cures a persistent case of writer's block by visiting the courtroom trial of a young Romanian woman named Nina (played by late '80s supermodel Paulina Porizkova) who has been accused of murder. He supplies the alleged murderer with an alibi--she can claim she was having an affair with him at his Connecticut country home at the time of the murder--and then he brings her to Connecticut to make the alibi look legitimate. Is she in fact a killer? Did she serve poisoned casserole to a group of dinner guests? You'd have to be a major fan of Selleck or Porizkova to want to find out what happens next, because despite a few light moments of engaging comedy this is the kind of nonsensical fluff that quickly wears out its welcome. --Jeff Shannon

As listed but...... October 30, 2008 Received well ahead of scheduled date but would have preferred a standard blank case instead of an oversized case. Played well!
Her Alibi September 30, 2008 Tom Seleck is a favorite actor of ours. Very few movies do we re watch but this is one. It is too funny and it's always the same. We've viewed it for fourteen years and we've just now purchased it for our own movie library. A good laugh has healing values, so instead of aspirin get this movie. You'll be happy you did.
It is Per ... Per ... Predictable June 20, 2008 Tom Selleck spent all his years after Magnum P.I. playing the same everyman role, but he plays it well probably because he really is everyman. This was a cute, light hearted romantic comedy that slid by most movie goers and critics, barely making a blip on the radar. Still, it was a nice bit of fluff just to spend a weekend with.
Tom Selleck plays a mystery writer, Phil, who is in a rut. He hasn't had a best seller in years because he's suffering from writer's block. Trying to find some inspiration, he sits in with a flock of elderly people watchers (courtroom groupies on Medicare, but still courtroom groupies), when he sees a beautiful woman named Nina come before the judge. She has been charged with murder, a mysterious stranger from Romania. In a moment of inspiration, Phil decides to provide a false alibi - saying that the two of them are having an affair and that she couldn't have killed the victim in question because she was with him when it happened. Phil takes Nina back to his Connecticut estate, living with the mysterious stranger who only the audience knows is being watched by some European thugs in the shadows. What will happen? Well, it's predictable.
There are some cute comedy moments, mostly in the dinner party scene and the physical comedy mishaps. Perhaps the funniest moments are the voice overs that Tom Selleck provides as he is writing his book in his mind, making him into the tough guy he hopes he is rather than that bumbling fool he is. Otherwise, it's just a cute story your average watcher won't read too much into.
Underrated December 15, 2007 A fun and also exciting movie. Not a masterpiece but it has humour and drama mixed and most of all it brings a very nice feeling. One gets glad watching it. I liked it a lot. Cute. They don't make films like this anymore. Not this type of films. Sadly.
Her Alibi... August 15, 2007 I stumbled upon this one while flipping channels on 08/12/2007. It was 'savaged' by the critics, if my memory serves.
'Her Alibi" isn't half-bad. In fact, I rather liked it! In several scenes, I actually laughed out loud. If you don't take it too seriously, you should have fun with this one. Four stars!!
