Product Description
Once upon a time, Claire Lewis dreamed she would take her camera to war zones to document political upheavals and expose grave injustices. Fate led her elsewhere. And while she might not be on assignment for The New York Times, her current job carries its own dangers: Claire is a wedding photographer. Her world is populated by stressed-out brides and the mothers who reared them, grooms who seduce bridesmaids, brides who change their minds, pass out, or dance on tables in tiaras, and the occasional couple who are truly in love. If you told Claire that you thought being a wedding photographer was glamorous, chances are she’d laugh and give you a list of reasons why it is not glamorous. What it is is unpredictable, funny, demanding, moving, and full of spontaneous moments that cause one to question the nature of love and relationships. As Claire says, it’s all that and it’s never dull. What more could you ask for? Told with great wit and exuberance, this memoir is a hilarious and touching account of one woman’s adventures in a career that she never saw herself in, and of how she braved those waters while also managing to fall in love and have a wedding of her own. A delightful, insightful read, Exposed: Confessions of a Wedding Photographer will make you see weddings in a whole new light.

Not As Funny as I Thought it would be August 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I thought the book would be extremely funny. I mean a wedding photographer writing about the weddings they did. The book had its moments. There was more than a few times I laughed aloud. Try & buy the book used. I read many books, so maybe I am too fussy. I give 2 & 1/2 stars. My opinion only.
Entertaining July 29, 2008 Not a bad book, although it seemed as though the author almost had nothing positive to say about shooting weddings and I began to wonder why she does them in the first place. There were a lot of humorous stories from weddings she has shot though that made it more readable.
Great Summer Reading July 9, 2008 Anyone who has ever gotten married and hired a wedding photographer - anyone who has ever been in the hospitality business and catered to bridal couples - anyone who just enjoys a good fun read (that will make them cry in a few places)... that's who this book is for. I read it in one sitting and laughed out loud the whole way through.
Warm, witty and wonderful! June 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
How special to find and read a behind the scenes book about weddings and photography! Being a diehard people watcher I thoroughly enjoyed riding along with Claire and her assistant Sarah... They brought me to each wedding and each adventure making sure I didn't miss the laughs and the heart tugging relationship struggles. Very fun read, great picture painting for my mind...I laughed out loud, groaned in disappointment and had at least one sorrowful tear for sure! I was entertained, enlightened and encouraged. Being a photographer who loves to capture what I see to share with the world, I enjoyed hearing Claire's thoughts on her job and the world of cameras and film in our digital age. This book is about photography, people and their quirky ways, weddings and much much more! Claire you are a delightful writer and I cannot wait to read your next book! More Claire Lewis is my cry!!
This is a book for guys! June 25, 2008 You might think this is a book exclusively for women, brides-to-be in particular. Wrong. Men will get more out of this entertaining and insightful book because we just don't know this stuff, and Claire Lewis has done us a big favor by revealing the inner emotional landscape of a bride. It's treacherous territory indeed, but Claire is a very able guide. EXPOSED is a must read for grooms-to-be and former grooms who want to figure out why they were so clueless on their wedding day(s).
